July 2012 News

We’re back again with our second newsletter since our relaunch as Sani Mountain Lodge (previously known as Sani Top Chalet).

We thought we would start this letter to you with feedback that we have received from Lodge visitors communicating their experiences via the Tripadvisor website:

“Excellent experience” – The drive up Sani Pass was slightly hair raising by my standards – but perfectly passable in a 4x4 and very, very scenic. The (Lodge) is under new ownership and big changes are planned. We slept in a Rondavel, with a fire in the stove in the evening – very romantic though at the same time pretty basic. Plenty of hot water, but be aware that the electric goes off early and doesn’t start again until breakfast time. The food was astonishingly good and the welcome was warm from all the staff. Great place to meet fellow adventurers – everybody shares their experiences and you can easily strike up friendships.” Sue H. Bielefeld,Germany (Tripadvisor review).

Thanks Sue H for your straightforward and honest feedback.  … and directly via our own website contact page:

“We had the absolute pleasure of visiting Sani Mountain Lodge over this past weekend and were fortunate at having been there through the snow fall. At first, I was a little disappointed especially with the chalet which I didn’t feel was in line with the rates. This misconception was soon cleared up when I felt how comfortable the bed was and, during the blistering cold, I was as warm as I could have been anywhere. Also the food was exceptional and the company outstanding! When all was said and done, I almost felt guilty for the money spent as the stay was more than worth it; in fact, I almost felt as though I was somehow ripping you off! Thank you to all the staff for the warm welcome and an outstanding weekend. I will most certainly recommend your resort.”  Tracy G. South Africa.

And thank you Tracy G as well. It’s was so great to hear from you - people such as yourself motivate us to go further – to do everything possible to make our guest stays a positive memory that will never be forgotten.

We have some great transport news for you who would prefer to be driven up to our Lodge and back down again – you may just want to be exposed to the beauty along the way instead of having to concentrate on the challenge of climbing the Pass.

We now are ready to do just that with our own Sani Mountain Lodge 4x4 seven seater Prado. We have scheduled two trips up from the South African border post (with safe and plentiful parking) and two trips down every day:

Departure from SA Border Post going up – 11:30 and 15:30.

Departure from Lodge going down to Post – 10:30 and 14:30.

One way rate will be R200 per person (or R400 pp roundtrip).

Kidding aside, we would like you to know that you don’t have to miss any of the great international and national sporting events when you are staying with us. Our large screen lounge satellite TV facility will keep you in total touch with everything from the Olympics to our own rugby and soccer sporting programmes. You won’t have to bring the beer or chips – just call our name and we will be there.

If you didn’t get to see Getaway’s online competition news or the July issue of Getaway featuring our two month winter promotion on the magazine’s Diary page, please note that over this period we will be offering you the opportunity to celebrate Christmas two times in 2012. With the fairy lights, the tree, Santa Claus and a turkey dinner with all the trimmings we want you to see double while you’re with us.

And, what’s more, all this fun and food comes with your standard D/B&B daily tariff. We hope our joyous present will give you and your friends and family much pleasure. May your winter season be special wherever you are. We will be visiting you soon with all the latest new happenings at our Lodge.

And.. one last thing. We have uploaded all the records from our past visitors into the newsletter list. It is  possible that the name we have against the email address this is sent to is not correct. We would be most grateful if you would check at the bottom of the email version of this newsletter and use the link to edit your details if you wish.
